Asian Sauteed Cabbage

Asian Sauteed Cabbage is a delicious and healthy dish that is popular in many Asian cuisines. This simple yet flavorful recipe combines the natural sweetness of cabbage with the umami flavors of soy sauce, garlic, and ginger.

Ingredients
  

  • 3 Tbsp Olive or coconut oil
  • 1 Head 2lbs Green cabbage-cored, quartered and cut into 2" pieces
  • 1 1/2 Tsp Salt-divided
  • 1 Onion-sliced thin
  • 1 Tbsp Ginger-grated
  • 3 Cloves Garlic-minced
  • 1 Serrano chile-seeded and sliced into rings
  • 1/2 Cup Cilantro-chopped
  • 1/4 Cup Mint-chopped
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp Fish sauce
  • 2 Tsp Lime juice

Instructions
 

  • Heat oil in a 12" nonstick skillet over medium high heat for a couple minutes. Add in onion and 1/2 teaspoon salt, cover and cook for 5 minutes. Stirring occasionally.
    Add cabbage along with 1 teaspoon of salt. Cover and cook until cabbage is tender, 4 minutes. Stirring occasionally.
  • Stir in chile and continue cooking uncovered for 4 minutes stir halfway through. If you get some char that adds extra flavor. Stir in ginger and garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes being careful that the garlic doesn't burn.
  • Remove from heat and stir in cilantro, mint, fish sauce and lime juice. Serve from skillet or transfer to a serving platter.
