Homemade Ginger Liqueur

Course Condiment

Ingredients
  

  • 1 3-4 inch piece of fresh ginger
  • 3 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 vanilla bean split or 1/2 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 6 oz vodka
  • 2` large slices of orange peel without the white pith

Instructions
 

  • Combine all the ingredients in a jar with a lid. shake well to combine. Let sit for 2 days, shaking it once a day. Remove the vanilla bean, and let sit for 4 more days, shaking jar when you think about it.
  • Strain out the solids using a sieve lined with a coffee filter. Rebottle it and let it sit for 2 more days to mellow before using.
