Mother’s Day Roses

One of my favorite gifts I received for Mother’s Day was in 2012 was roses. My amazing hubby sure helped the girls pick a winner of a gift. But not from a florist or in a vase. These were bare root roses which are just roses that aren’t packed in soil but in peat moss and sealed in plastic. Every year I’m amazed at how well they produce especially after learning how to prune and fertilize them.

This year for Mother’s Day was really special because my daughters were here along with my mom and mother-in-law, especially after this crazy year of Covid. My mom doesn’t like her picture taken so I am really happy to have been able to capture one. It might have been the margarita that convinced her.

My youngest daughter Hannah gave me beautiful smelling perfume from Philosophy called Fresh Cream. I absolutely love it, even more so since this fragrance doesn’t make my nose so crazy and give me a headache. It smells like vanilla and musk and feels like a warm hug.

My oldest daughter, Ariana, is a second-grade public school teacher and doesn’t have a big budget for a Mother’s Day gift. So, when she asked me what I wanted for Mother’s Day I said how about making dinner. She is like me and loves to cook but she really enjoys baking more.

My mother-in-law loves margaritas, so we started off our celebration with margaritas on the rocks. In a stemmed glass of course because well….. that’s what my mother-in-law likes. I like to spread a little happiness. Then I got to relax as Ariana fixed an awesome dinner including dessert. She made Teriyaki Salmon Rice Bowls for dinner. It was perfectly simple and had the best flavor. I’m gonna have to ask nicely if she will give me the recipe. It’s a celebration so there has to be dessert, and I’m so happy she did because it was perfect. A Lemon Blueberry Bundt Cake that not only tasted fantastic but was beautiful as well. Lemon and blueberry are the perfect marriage of flavors. I would have paid for this meal, which is my way of saying it was delicious.

I hate that time passes so quickly but in this case, I’m looking forward to next year! In the meantime I get to cut my Mother’s Day roses to enjoy all year.
